62/38% grenache/shiraz, a blend from 2 sites. 16yo puncheons of each and a single barrique of grenache. An homage to the likes of d’Arry’s Original, apparently. I grew up drinking that. Here, a less-is-more approach. A full-weighted mouthfeel, rich of flavour and yet, savoury, fresh and effortlessly detailed without being overly complicated. Bracken, kirsch and violet, both burnished and restrained by a frisky set of nori/saline tannins, just edgy enough. These invite another glass, rather than forensic analysis. A lovely drink. 93 points – Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion 2022
Paralian’s tribute to McLaren Vales ‘Burgundies’ of years gone by. An increase in Grenache brings more juice, more flesh and more fragrance, whilst the Shiraz tightens the aromas with spice and black fruit and importantly delivers the drive of mild tannin. This is a blend of the two single site wines, a 16yr old puncheon of each and one 6 year old barrique of Grenache as well. 10 months oak maturation. Bottled with minimal sulphur only in early February 2021. Vegan friendly.
