A light, fun expression of the vintage that was. Cinsault’s light fragrance & crunchy acidity, with the deeper, fuller and spicier expression of Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre to round it out. From the Ahrens’s Vine Vale property (Certified Biodynamic). Sand over clay. 5000 bottles produced.
2019 Vintage – Game meat and bloody whiffs, violets, sweet earth and red berries. Palate is similar, spicy and chewy, almost tactile peppery character, light dry burr of tannin to finish. This is to be guzzled with impunity – a wicked, detailed, young and fresh red but with enough depth and interest to keep you at it. Brilliant wine; outrageously good for the bucks. 94 points – Mike Bennie, The Winefront
