Yeringberg Pinot Noir 2018

Deceptively elegant, with dried flowers, plum, cherry, rhubarb, cranberry, clove and five spice. The colour, lightish, doesn’t prepare you for the propulsive power of flavour that attacks the palate. Intense red fruits, succulent and tangy. Wild, thrashing flavours, joyous in the way that they overlap each other. Deep and firm, abundant acidity and firm ripe tannins. The scaffold of structure is immense, forming up the fruit towards the close, giving the wine terrific tension amidst the luxuriousness of shape. Waters Wine Co.

Gosh, if the aromatics don’t seduce you, the palate will. Starts off with an autumnal, forest-floor fragrance, moving towards cherries and pips, with a smattering of herbs. Amaro and pomegranate add tang, with tannins the texture of a fine emery board. Elegant and suave. 95 Points – Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2022

Bright and spicy, our 2018 Pinot Noir is a wine that balances delicacy and finesse, with the sense of depth and complexity that old vines produce. The initial bouquet of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherry merges into more complex aromas of rose petal, cumin, liquorice and nutmeg, with a hint of earthy mushroom. The palate is full of crunchy red fruit, with subtle rose petal and spiced rhubarb flavours, but there’s also a deeply savoury layer bringing a real complexity to the palate. An almost indistinguishable line of acidity gives brightness, length and wonderful perfumed lift to the back palate. Lovely drinking now, but equally a wine to savour over the next 8-10 years. – Sandra de Pury, Yeringberg
