Vincent Dancer Pommard Les Perrieres 2019

There is fine value to be found in the southern reaches of the Cote d’Or and Vincent Dancer’s 2019 Les Perrieres Pommard is a terrific example. Deep, brooding nose with a compote of dark fruits, kirsch, spiced plum and tobacco. Powerful textured palate, a very deep core of spice laden fruit and mineral/powdery mouthfeel that is very gourmand. There is firmness, which suits me as I’m always looking for a Burgundy to stand up to T-bone streak, cooked over coals. Absolutely gorgeous, powerful, profound Burgundy. Bargain. Waters Wine Co

Driving south on the D974, Les Perrières sits under the famed Clos des Epeneaux and is the first Pommard vineyard on your right after you leave the commune of Beaune. Dancer farms almost one hectare of vines, planted in 2012. He works with very low yields to achieve the textural richness and seduction you’ll find here. It’s a darker, inkier wine than the Beaune (as you would expect), but it still offers lovely finesse and purity. Importer’s Notes

Outstanding. Top Value. A more deeply pitched and equally fresh nose features aromas of plum, warm earth and dark cherry. There is excellent punch to the sleekly muscular middle weight flavors that possess impressive volume and focused power on the youthfully austere finish. This is an excellent Pommard villages that is worth considering.” 89-92 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
