The 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice amidst the firm, ripe tannins. This is great Pinot Noir and a ripost to those who think its a varietal suited to cooler climes.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from just below the Tyrrell’s 4 and 8 Acre vineyards, planted in the 1970s. The grapes were hand-picked before natural yeast fermentation in open top vats. 30% whole bunches included. Maturation was in French oak barriques for 11 months, of which 10% was new. WWC, June 2019
Medium bodied, lovely tickle of graphite tannin, savoury but fresh strawberry and lightness of touch throughout, good finish, firm but fresh….. It will shine with a little more bottle age to bring out further complexity. It’s a very good Vat 6. 94 Points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

A remarkable wine, from an impossible vintage. The fruit is sourced from all of the estate vineyards, only 100 cases produced perhaps the best demonstration of just how punishing a vintage it was. Quite closed initially, but with patience, aromatically soaring. Intense sweet and tangy blue red and black fruits, cut flowers, mace, clove, cinnamon […]

Gently pumped over once a day while the ferment was most active (4-5 times in total). It […]
Add to cartFresh and floral nose with tiles, vibrant red berries and pomegranate. Stony, mineral verve. Pure and expressive with good tension on the medium-bodied palate. Silky, very nimble and elegant. Acidic red berries in the finish that cleanse the palate. So much drinkability. Drink or hold. From biodynamically grown grapes. 96 points – James Suckling.com […]
Add to cart“The 2020 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge has a little more florality on the nose compared to the Bourgogne Rouge, just a touch more delineation. The palate is crunchy in the mouth and displays a little more energy compared to the Bourgogne Rouge. Pretty, yet early-drinking.” 88 points, Neal Martin, Vinous Lamarche holds 1.5 hectares in […]
