Lamarche’s 1.35 hectares of vineyards in the Clos de Vougeot are situated over three terroirs: one is at the top of the Clos near the Château (actually there are two small parcels in the area known as Montiotes Hautes); another is in the middle tranche on the Vosne side (Petits Maupertuis); and the remaining parcel is lower down near the RN74 (Baudes Basses). All three parcels are picked at the same time and co-fermented in open-top wooden vats.
As you might expect, Nicole Lamarche vinifies a much finer, prettier expression of the Clos—very Vosne in style. That said, a terroir can’t completely change its spots, and in the context of this producer you will naturally find more power and more mineral, savoury structure compared to the other wines listed here.
There is no great depth of colour here in the Lamarche pink-purple style. A little bit of red cherry bouquet starts to emerge. Considerable weight on the palate, the oak shows a little more, but as with the other wines they are in harmony. 93-95 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
Lamarche has three parcels in the Clos de Vougeot. There is one up by the château by Mugneret-Gibourg; one in the middle near Petit Maupertuis and one along the road by Faiveley. The gentle extraction and long ageing have given us a wine with pronounced ripe cherry fruit and a mineral edge. The texture is firm and remarkably refined, with an elegant tannic structure that is perfectly balanced with the evocative fruit. 94 points, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter

This is 100% estate fruit, 25% whole bunches were retained while the balance of the crop was destemmed. A wild ferment was in small open vats and the juice had about three to four days rest before some gentle foot-stomping and a daily plunge. Everything was pressed after 14 days into tank, and then gravity-fed […]

The palate is crunchy in the mouth and displays a little more energy compared to the Bourgogne Rouge. Pretty, yet early-drinking.” 88 points, Neal Martin, Vinous Lamarche holds 1.5 hectares in […]
Add to cartThe 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sThe 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots was the last wine in the cellar to finish its malolactic fermentation, and its bouquet of smoky blackberries and cherries was still comparatively unformed. Medium to full-bodied, layered and lively, its bright acids and powdery tannins mark it out as a particular success this year. 91-93+ Points – William Kelley, […]
