A blend of two vineyards – the first lies outside the town of Piccadilly, below Mount Lofty, and provides pretty aromatics with a fine delicate line of fruit. The second in Uraidla, sits on a steep east-facing slope on rather shallow and hard soils. Naturally yields are very low, providing fruit with structure and persistence. The altitude and aspect of both sites provides the elongated ripening conditions that Pinot Noir loves. Each batch retains a portion of whole berries with roughly 50% whole bunches in the ferment. The wine is raised in older French oak puncheons for roughly 9-10 months. Bottled without fining or filtration, the 2016 wine has beautiful raspberry, clove and spice aromatics with subtle red fruits. A textural round palate with integrated, elegant sappy tannins supported by a supple and refreshing depth of fruit.
