2018 Review – Wow, this is a great pinot noir. Has an almost electric pulse. Bright, cranberry and pomegranate fruit, taut and fresh, a web of charry-reductive tannins but so judiciously found. Sinew and pucker, wine drawn long, it’s one for the very elemental and savoury pinot lovers. Complex and compelling wine. 94 points – Mike Bennie, The Winefront
This is a super fragrant Pinot with tonnes of black fruits, violets and cherries. Medium-bodied with a delicious texture and weight in the mouth. So much fruit with satiny tannins and a never-ending finish. Predominantly from Garagiste’s Balnarring, Tuerong and Merricks vineyards, with a small proportion of Red Hill fruit. The grapes were sorted then destemmed – a small percentage of the Merricks portion was fermented with 100% whole bunches – and fermented in small open fermenters using indigenous yeast, minimal hand plunging and left for 25 days on skins. The wine was aged for ten months in 10% new hogsheads with the balance raised in older hogsheads. Unfined and unfiltered.
