Outstanding. Top value. This is aromatically even fresher with its relatively high-toned nose of cranberry, pomegranate and soft earth and spice wisps. There is both good intensity and minerality suffusing the slightly denser flavors that firm up noticeably on the mildly rustic, focused and more complex finale. This is quite good for the genre and worth considering though note that it will need at least a year or two of cellaring to unwind. 87 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Issue 73
The style of this Pinot, light in body and colour, is always very delicate and refined. It’s showing subtle reduction, considerable freshness and red cherry and pomegranate fruit. There’s no new wood here. Sourced from a 1.53ha parcel above Vosne-Romanée. 91 points, Tim Atkin MW, Decanter
Tucked up in the hills above Vosne, Lamarche holds 1.5-hectares in the Hautes-Côtes. From the hamlet of Concoeur, this parcel is planted on limestone-rich soils and faces due east. The vines were planted in 1979, so in 2017 were almost 40 years old. The ‘17 was fermented with 30% whole bunches and matured mostly in used barriques. It’s a super bright, pure and ruby red Burgundy and the finest example we have shipped. Terrific value.
