Even Keel is Polperro’s “second” label, but the value and quality is pretty special. Medium bodied, bright, vivid and intense. Sweet and tangy red fruits, violets, mushroom compost and sandalwood. A distinctly fruit driven young pinot noir from this very good vintage in Mornington. Has a lovely cherry and raspberry mix happening on the nose with a degree of subtle turned fresh earth character. It’s light bodied but with good flavour intensity. Fine chalky tannins and a spicy oak treatment work harmoniously to support a seamless integrated palate. 93 points – Ray Jordan, The West Australian
