Clyde Park D Pinot Noir Museum Release 2016

$80.00

The most generous of the pinots and despite the broad shoulders, is more approachable now. A cuddly nose of sweet red fruits, pastille black fruits, cocoa powder, nutmeg, cherry, raspberry and plum. Broad and fleshy on the palate with some oak spice, five spice and sweet fruits. The tannins are quite firm, but the fruit is so rich and flavoursome. Very much a wine for autumn and winter. Sweet spot right now. Waters Wine Co

V6 clone planted ’88, 60% whole bunches, wild-fermented, post-ferment maceration, 35 days on skins, matured for 11 months in French oak (33% new), 165 dozen made. Slightly lighter, brighter colour than the standard wine, the bouquet complex, spicy and inviting; the palate has the power and drive of a tip top great Premier Cru from Vosne Romanee, and a superior outlook for cellaring, its inherent quality protected for decades by the screwcap. 97 Points – James Halliday, August 2017
