The estate’s emblematic wine and without a doubt, one of the best Australian Nebbiolo’s. I love the acceptance of vintage and site. Every year this wine (and the others for all that) is different, embracing the vintage conditions and the vagaries of site. This is much burlier and more rugged compared to the Mezzo Nebbiolo of the same year, and will take a few years for all the elements to fully integrate. Darker fruits of blackberry, blackcurrant, cola, aniseed, raspberry and dried flowers. Deep palate, rich and mineral, with a ferrous and compost element I have not detected in previous vintages. Great width, hints of charcuterie and pungent herbs. Tannins and acid resolved, the long, long finish is all fruit, indicating a great vintage for this wine. Structurally unique, the wine so buoyant and open, yet its frame so gentle. There are no straight lines here, just sensual curves and a mysterious melange of flavour and texture as every sip is different from the last. Get it while you can. Waters Wine Co
The cool season has provided a finer and bonier iteration than the 21 and with the most approachable tannin profile so far off the site. While this drinks early it has the drive and balance to live a happy life in a good cellar. Simon Grant – Winemaker
“The 2020 Nebbiolo d’Alba emerges from the part of San Rocco Seno d’Elvio that is in Alba (as opposed to in Barbaresco). Wild cherry, cedar, tobacco, spice, dried herbs and blood orange are some of the many aromas and flavors that open in the glass. Mid-weight structure and polished tannins add to its considerable appeal.” 93 […]
Add to cart Producer: Albino RoccaIt’s an intense wine, with floral notes and blackcurrant/cassis and a powerful and attractive aroma resulting from the predominance of Touriga Nacional, combined with Alicante Bouschet. The presence of Touriga Franca and Sousão adds complexity and spices. This Vesuvius is full-bodied, with long, firm tannins and a powerful palate. It will age beautifully for decades. […]
Add to cart Producer: Quinta Do VesuvioTasted alongside the 2017, the 2018 vintage is warmer and drier, and so fuller, with a slightly darker fruit profile and pronounced structure. Gorgeous aromatics of cola, aniseed, cassis, rose, geranium, bitumen and savoury spice. Rich and full flavoured, but in no way heavy and the overall impression is one of translucence and purity. Round […]
