After the excitement of the 2017 release we were shocked when 2018 provided a new depth of both fruit and tannin. No doubt a combination of additional vine maturity and the season. The wine is intrinsically in balance and we are confident this wine will cellar many years however a quick turn in the decanter and the ripe nature of the vintage sees this approachable already.
Such a lovely feel. Strong red cherry juice, a lick of Parisian almond shows some green herb, pepper and anise characters. Sinewy texture with salty-ultra fine mineral feel and firm-dusty-ferrous tannins. A freshness and lift in 2018, a touch breathy in profile, though that feels fine. Fruit verity, true cherry, lightly sour, earthy complexity, is delightful. It’s a charmer from hello. 95 Points – Mike Bennie, The Winefront
