Cigliuti Barbaresco Serraboella 2012

$105.00

100% Nebbiolo from the Serraboella cru in Neive. The site sits on calcareous soils at 350m above sea level, with a southwestern exposure. The vines are aged between 25 and 55 years old and yields are about 4 to 4.5 tonnes per hectare. Fermentation and maceration takes place in steel vats at controlled temperatures. The wine is matured for 26 months in Slavonian oak casks and mid-sized French oak casks. This is Cigliuti’s most serious and firmly structured wine, taking a little bit of time in the glass to reveal itself. When it does, freshly cut flowers, cherries, red currants and raspberries compel you to take a sip. And what a sip. So vibrant and energetic, the fruit ripples across the palate, almost playful. There is no doubting the cellarability of this wine with a fine edge of acidity and firm tannins keeping everything in check. On point.
