Like the vast majority of the Rocca wines, the Nebbiolo d’Alba derives from a single site–again a parcel right on the southern border of the Barbaresco region in the Seno d’Elvio subzone. The Nebbiolo vines here vary in age from 15 to 60 years. The 2018 was matured for 12 months in large Austrian and German Stockinger oak casks and offers outstanding depth and interest for the money. Expect waves of plum, floral and dried fruit aromas and flavours as well as some complex tobacco notes. All this is framed in some fine, powdery Nebbiolo tannins. A really classy wine for the level with surprising depth and finesse.
