Paralian Blewitt Marmont Vineyard Grenache 2021

$42.00

Sourced from the sandy, dry grown Marmont Vineyard in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. Intensely aromatic with strawberry, clove, aniseed, violets, kirsch and blueberry. Pure and supple, gorgeously easy to drink, sleek and gliding. Absolutely perfect winemaking. Ripeness without undue sweetness, power without heaviness. Well structured, the acidity bright and the tannins squeezed so ripe you can taste them. It’s hard to describe such a beautiful latticework of flavour, yet firming with such gourmand and authoritative tannins. Grenache for sensualists. Waters Wine Co

Fermented wild in concrete with 19% whole bunches. Plunged once daily with a total of 11 days on skins before stomping by feet, another 4 days of maceration and 10 months in neutral puncheons. Very good. The tannins – long limbed, saline, chalky and gritty – the wine’s opus. A chastity belt across the mid palate. A timbre of tension plying detail and freshness across notes of kirsch, pink grapefruit pulp, mint, clove and orange peel. The finish, a slow build of furled density and sweetness, giving just enough away for pleasure while promising much more. 95 points – Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion 2023

Exclusively hand plunged over 15 days on skins. Whole bunches were hand squeezed at zero Baume to release the beautiful aromatic carbonic ferment characters back into the wine. Wine was matured on lees for 10 months in 17 year-old French Oak Puncheons. Bottled with minimal sulphur only in February 2022. Vegan friendly.
