La Chapelle is Thivin’s highest altitude vineyard. South facing and steeply sloped, they produce Thivin’s most elegant and perfumed wine. The 2018 is a great La Chapelle, and a marvelous follow up to the tremendous 2017. Cool and breezy fruits of raspberry, black and red cherry, blueberry and sweet spice. Perfectly pitched and pure on the palate, the balance and interplay between fruit, tannin and acid is perfect. One of the greatest wines from the 2018 vintage with a very long life.
Dried rose perfume, apricot kernel, freeze dried strawberries, a little spice. It’s medium-bodied, bright and lively, has a distinct juiciness and floral character, tannin lends gentle grip, succulent and fresh on a long slightly meaty finish. 94 points – Gary Walsh, The Winefront
