Daniel Bouland Cote de Brouilly Cuvee Melanie 2016

Cuvee Melanie is named after Daniel Bouland’s daughter. It’s made from 70 year old vines and the vineyard is a tiny, steep half hectare, close planted with 6000 vines. The soils are blue tinted volcanic soils, unique to Brouilly. The 2016 is very open now but will age well. Expressive nose of blueberry, cassis, plums and cranberries. Medium to full bodied with very clear, pure fruit. The tannins are soft and discreet but with lovely presence. Beautiful, beguiling Beaujolais for Autumn evenings. Waters Wine, February 2019

Lurid violet. A suave, mineral-accented bouquet evokes fresh red/blue fruits and potpourri, and a spicy element adds urgency. Bright, focused and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated yet lithe raspberry and boysenberry flavors that deepen with aeration. Distinctly graceful in style, finishing gently tannic and impressively long and leaving a sexy lavender pastille note behind. 93 points, Josh Reynolds,
